Congrats to all the campers who trekked 4 miles into Trinity Alps back country to Camp Unalayee. At over 6,000 feet, the air was crisp, warm during the day, brisk at night, with an inch of snow upon our arrival. Activities included hiking, crafts, archery, watercraft, fishing, and lots of campfire camaraderie.
Meet tomorrow, Sunday, April 6, at the usual time (11 a.m.) at the usual spot (UUCPA)! We will carpool to the hike. Be prepared with food, water, sunscreen hats, backpack, etc.
We will likely hike Los Trancos or an area that’s not challenging. Best to wear long pants in case of ticks or poison oak. One of our projects would be to identify poison oak. Another is to prepare for the 5-mile hike patch.
Please email Nathan if you can provide a ride, or will need a ride.
The Navigators Committee received an offer from a friend of Chapter 42 for 6 senior Navigators to build high-powered model rockets. This is a fabulous opportunity for senior Navigators — all materials are being donated (worth about $100)!
Jeneen is handling sign-ups for the high-powered rocketry. It will take place in the fall, and Navigators must commit to attending all the building sessions, and to the Saturday launch date. Jeneen will be developing a schedule soon, so please contact her for possible dates, and for age requirements.
Navigators Chapter 42 invites Navigators and families to take part in a family camping trip on May 30-31 at a nearby state park.
Please contact Nathan for information about reserving a campsite. Act soon, as the campsites will fill up quickly!
